Alex Dreyfus, the man behind the Global Poker League (GPL), has finally revealed the franchises set to contest the group’s inaugural tournament series.
After earlier announcing that Chris Moneymaker would be managing the Las Vegas Moneymakers, Dreyfus has now released the names of all twelve franchises along with their associated managers.Representing a variety of cities and countries, the franchises will compete in a series of tournaments later this year with the ultimate winner set to be crowned GPL champion. Before the betting beings, each franchise manager will have to choose a selection of competitors to be on their team and a draft has been organised in order to ensure fairness. Top tournament players are being invited to register their interest for this recruitment process, which is set to be run much like those from organisations such as the National Football League (NFL) and the National Basketball Association (NBA).Set to take place on February 15 from 2pm Los Angeles time at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, this draft will streamed live via Twitch and hosted by Kara Scott alongside poker experts such as Phil Hellmuth. “Today is an exciting day in GPL history, the confirmation of our team managers is a crucial step towards our goal,” said Dreyfus.Global Poker League Franchises:Berlin Bears (Twitter: @BLNBears) - Philipp GruissemHong Kong Dragon (Twitter: @HKGStars) - Celina LinLos Angeles Sunset (Twitter: @GPLSunset) - Maria HoLas Vegas Moneymakers (Twitter: @LASMoneymakers - Chris MoneymakerLondon Royals (Twitter: @LDNRoyals) - Liv BoereeMontreal Nationals (Twitter: @MTLNationals) - Marc-Andre LadouceurMoscow Wolverines (Twitter: @MSKWolverines) - Anatoly FilatovNew York Rounders (Twitter: @NewYorkRounders) - Bryn KenneyParis Aviators (Twitter: @ParisAviators) - Fabrice SoulierRome Emperors (Twitter: @RomeEmperors) - Max PescatoriSan Francisco Rush (Twitter: @SanFranRush) - Faraz JakaSao Paulo Metropolitans (Twitter: @SaoPauloMets) - Andre Akkari
