Frederik Jensen wins EPT Madrid for €495,000

Monday, 19 March 2012

Frederik Jensen is the last man standing from a field of 477 in the inaugural €5,300 EPT Madrid. He bested Fraser MacIntyre heads-up and finished him off with a dominating preflop all-in hand to secure the title.

Last year’s Madrid event on the tour was the EPT Grand Final, carrying a buy-in twice the size of this tournament. A field of 477 still boosted the prize pool to over €2.3 million though and after a three-handed chop with MacIntyre and Andrei Stoenecu, the eventual winner Jensen took home €495,000.

Jensen is best-known for finishing runner-up to Tyron Krost in the 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event, for which he won over $1 million US. This win, his first major title, boosts his live tournament earnings to over $2 million.

The final table payouts were as follows:
1. Frederik Jensen - €495,000
2. Fraser MacIntyre - €290,000
3. Andrei Stoenescu - €330,000
4. Bruno Lopes - €140,000
5. Ricardo Ibanez - €115,000
6. Ilan Boujenah - €92,000
7. Nicolas Levi - €69,450
8. Jason Duval - €48,000
