Fraser Bellamy Heads GUKPT Cardiff

Friday, 29 May 2015

The first of two opening flights in the £100,000 GTD Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Cardiff Main Event is done and dusted with Fraser Bellamy leading the way.

Bellamy has already enjoyed a fine 2015 after taking down the Sky Poker UK Championship Main Event in February for £200,000. He's well placed for another deep run in the Welsh capital after closing Day 1a with 120,700.

A total of 67 players took to the Cardiff tables on Thursday with 25 securing their place in Saturday's day 2 action. Nipping at Bellamy's heels was Warren Jones (118,700) who was the only other player to crack the six-figure stack barrier.

Also making solid starts were the likes of Ian Bosley (81,500), Bogden Serea (79,600) and Clark Durbin (79,300).

Organisers are expecting a much bigger turnout for today's Day 1b action with 137 entrants required to avoid an overlay. The action starts at 1pm today.
