Finnish online pro wins Unibet Open Prague for €157,000

Monday, 9 August 2010

The Unibet Open flew out to Prague along with a host of pros including Bluff Europe columnist Alex Rousso for the Main Event, a €1,650 buy-in affair that saw 424 players stump up the cash to compete for a prize pool totalling €636,000.

Yesterday at 2pm local time the final nine players sat down to battle down to the last man standing – standing, and holding a cool €157,000.

That last man turned out to be Finnish online PLO player Henri Ojala who took just three and a half hours to lift the Unibet Open trophy after sitting down mid-afternoon.

The most exciting moment of the final table was without a doubt the massive three-way all-in that occurred with four players remaining in contention. Ojala got his stack in the middle with AQ and found himself up against 99 and a crushing AK. A lady on the flop, though, meant the Finn eliminated his opponents to get heads-up against Nino Ryschawy.

One coinflip later and it was all over – Ojala’s 66 held up against AJ, leaving Ryschawy to settle for second place and €101,000.

The full final table places and payouts were as follows:

1 €157.000 – Henri Ojala – Finland

2 €101.000 – Nino Ryschawy – Germany

3 €67.600 – Jan Skampa – Czech Republic

4 €48.800 – Michal Maryska – Czech Republic

5 €37.700 – Benjamin Jensen – Denmark

6 €25.800 – Perica Bukara – Serbia

7 €19.000 – Joost Mengerink – Holland

8 €13.500 – Laur Sibold – Estonia

9 €11.140 – Jaroslav Vajgl – Czech Republic
