Erik Seidel makes second consecutive Epic Poker final table

Friday, 9 September 2011

Erik Seidel might be a really underrated tournament player. He’s actually done quite well this year, in case you hadn’t heard – yes, the Seiborg has made yet another final table, this time becoming the first player to make back-to-back Epic Poker League final tables. He arrives at the final eight second in chips.

In the last event, Seidel came second to Chino Rheem, outlasting a final table that included Jason Mercier, Huck Seed and Hasan Habib. This time he faces competition arguably just as stiff – David Steicke has the chip lead with over a million chips while the rest of the final table is made up of Isaac Baron, Fabrice Soulier, Dutch Boyd, Nam Le, Sean Getzwiller and Mike McDonald.

McDonald would have taken the chip lead to the final table but for a devastating hand versus Seidel on a board of A-T-8-T-9; McDonald got his money in with T-8 for a full house but Seidel turned over A-T for tens full of aces, taking a huge pot and getting to more than a million in chips, just behind Steicke. McDonald has the shortest stack of the eight.
