Federated Sport and Gaming's new pro league has been given a new name – The Epic Poker League.
The brainchild of former WSOP big cheese Jeffrey Pollack and Annie Duke, The Epic Poker League gets under way in August and will feature a quartet of $20,000 buy-in, rake free Main Events alongside pro-am and charity tournaments. 218 of the biggest names in the game have been invited to take part in the new series which will culminate in a huge freeroll early next year. The 27 players with the highest earning during the regular season events will battle it out for a share of a $1m prize pool."This is no ordinary tournament league," said Jeffrey Grosman, chief operating officer of FS+G. "Our fields will be some of the toughest in poker history and we expect the competition to be nothing less than epic. In selecting a name that could live up to the players' incredible skill and talent, epic was a natural fit.” Players set to take part include Erik Seidel, Phils Ivey and Hellmuth, Barry Greenstein, Tom 'Durrrr' Dwan, Roland de Wolfe and Sam Trickett.
