Emmett Mullin is the first name to be added to the 2012 UKIPT Roll of Honour. The Irishman outlasted a bumper field of 698-runners in Galway to walk away with a first prize of €100,000.
All eyes were on Nick Abou Risk going into the final table but the Canadian's quest for a third UKIPT victory stalled early in the day. A seventh place finish and a €14,700 pay day was still a highly impressive effort from last year's UKIPT Galway winner. After London-based Joe Roberts was eliminated in third it was left to Mullin and Ronan Gilligan to battle it out for the title with the man from Omagh taking a huge advantage when rivering a full house to beat Gilligan's made straight. The end came soon after when Mullin flopped a set of 3s to beat his fellow Irishman's pocket 7s."It's unbelievable," the winner told the PokerStars blog, "I've actually won a tournament as big as this, with such a tough field...It's been a bit of a drain but there's a buzz at the minute. We'll have a few drinks tonight." The final table positions and payouts were as follows:1 - Emmett Mullin €100,0002 - Ronan Gilligan €73,6503 - Joe Roberts €51,9004 - Craig Burke €30,7505 - Aleksandras Rusinovas €24,1506 - John Willoughby €19,4007 - Nick Abou Risk €14,7008 - Richard Haile €10,900Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham is the venue for the next leg of the UKIPT from 12th to 16th April.
