Edgar Stuchly appointed EPT president

The eighth season of the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) is upon us, kicking off with Ronny Kaiser besting a field of 282 in Tallinn, Estonia for a first prize of €275,000, and now it has a new president with Austrian Head of Poker Eric Stuchly a familiar face for many who compete on the EPT.

"The EPT is the richest and most prestigious poker tour in Europe and I'm delighted to be joining a much-loved and well-run live tour," said Stuchly.

"The goal now is to take the EPT to another level in terms of improving the experience for players and expanding the tour into burgeoning poker markets in Europe. It's a big challenge but one that I'm relishing."

Stuchly will not be a stranger to many European poker players. The man knows how to run poker rooms, basically, in Austria, where he was Head of Poker, he was recognised as Poker Staff Person of the Year for his management of as many as twelve poker rooms as Head of Poker for Casinos Austria.

Stuchly’s first event in charge will be the EPT Barcelona tournament, which kicks off on August 26. EPT chairman and a bit of a poker player himself, don’t you know, John Duthie, was full of praise for his new appointment saying that 'anyone connected to the EPT will feel the benefits of his leadership over the coming months and years'.
