Eames, Sands and Deeb among EPT Championship Day 1A leaders

Thursday, 26 April 2012

A total of 271 players found the €10k entry fee for the opening flight of the PokerStars EPT Championship Main Event in Monte Carlo yesterday and by the close 165 of them were still standing.

Czech pro Martin Kabrhel closed the day with the chip lead on 167,800 but there are plenty of big names lurking close behind including David Sands, John Eames and Freddy Deeb who all finished in the top six. Further back, but still with big stacks, are the likes of Scott Seiver, JP Kelly, Chris Brammer, Vanessa Selbst and Phil Ivey.

As it's an EPT event we can usually expect to write Luca Pagano made the money but the Italian busted out during the opening flight. Joining the Italian cashing machine on the rail were the likes of James Akenhead, Arnaud Mattern and Alex Kravchenko.

Day 1B has just got under way with plenty of big names on view. Join us tomorrow to see who is still in the hunt for a bumper pay day.
