Tom Marchese doubles up through Per Ummer

Tom Marchese doubles up through Per Ummer

Monday, 4 October 2010

Besides perhaps John Juanda, Tom Marchese has been by far the most active player at the EPT London Main Event final table. He has also become the first to double up and in the process all but eliminated Swedish player Per Ummer.

Marchese moved in from the button holding Ah-Ts and looked, for some reason, unhappy when the usually tight Swede Per Ummer uncharacteristically called with Ks-Qd. "kingsofcards" had a 40% chance of elimination and the flop provided a great sweat: Td-9d-6s gave Marchese top pair but added a gutshot to Ummer's outs.

The 6d turn gave Ummer a queen-high flush draw as well as his gutshot, meaning he had 17 outs to take the lead - and the chips - from Marchese. The online wonderkid doubled up though, leaving Ummer clinging to life and catapulting him to over 3.1m in chips.
