EPT Deauville Down to 15

Thursday, 5 February 2015

Just 15 hopefuls are still in contention in Deauville chasing the first European Poker Tour title of the year.

Leading the charge for the €543,700 first prize is Frenchman Joseph Carlino followed by Italian Carlo Savinelli and Benjamin Buhr who all bagged up over 2m chips.

Vicky Coren-Mitchell became the first player to win two events on the EPT but she could be joined by Kevin Macphee who's still in the hunt in France.

The American went close at EPT London last year and will need a good start as he'll start Friday in 13th out of 15 with 581,000.

The other big name chasing glory is Benjamin Pollack. The Frenchman has enjoyed a string of deep runs in EPT events and is primed for another. He'll start the penultimate day nestled in eighth place with 877,000. This latest run has already taken his career live tournament earnings past the $2m mark.

21 of the 36 starters hit the rail on Thursday including Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier (31st), Ruben Visser (28th) and Sergio Aido (18th).

The actions resumes at noon local time when they'll play down to a final table of eight.
