EPT Barcelona is Big

Organisers of this year's EPT Barcelona festival wanted to break records and celebrate the tour's 100th event in style and that's exactly what has happened in the Spanish capital so far.

To ensure the fiesta got off to a glittering start a €50,000 Super High Roller was the first event on the EPT's menu.

Having grown in popularity over the years, the event reached new heights yesterday after 56 entrants combined with re-entries to take the field to 72 players.

That figure alone was already a Barcelona record, but with re-entry available until midday today that figure could still increase.
Leading the 49 players who made it through to Day 2 was Ryan Fee whose 919,000 chip stack was enough to put him ahead of Sam Trickett (725,000) and Ole Schemion (665,000).

On top of the Super High Roller breaking previous records, the Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event also broke new ground after it welcomed 2,560 players.
The €1,100 event was filled with many of the world's top poker players and proves once again that not only is the EPT growing in strength each year, but anything connected to the tour is also gaining notoriety.
