The European Poker Tour has announced details of a new stop on the season 11 schedule, Malta.
As has become the norm, the EPT will partner with a national event, in this case the Italian Poker Tour, to provide a full 11 days of tournament action. 40-45 events will be scheduled in the resort of St Julian's between 18 and 28 March 2015.Top of the bill will be the €1,000+€100 Italian Poker Tour Main Event and the €5,000+€300 EPT Malta Main Event.“After discussions with players and fellow colleagues, we decided it was time to add a fresh and exciting stop to the EPT schedule,” said Edgar Stuchly, EPT President.“Malta is a great destination for an EPT and we expect strong participation numbers. With excellent connections to all major European cities, a warm Mediterranean climate, delicious local cuisine and lots of great tourist activities, Malta is the perfect place for players to come with their friends and family next spring.”The Portomaso Casino is no stranger to hosting top-notch poker events. The venue has previously, and somewhat incongruously, hosted the Finnish and Swedish Poker Championships, as well as IPT festivals.Eros Ganzina, General Manager of Portomaso Casino, added, “We are delighted and proud to announce our new collaboration with PokerStars and the EPT. Malta is renowned as being a very popular poker destination and in the last five years Portomaso Casino has proved to be more than capable of hosting large-scale events. The EPT is a landmark event for us and we are looking forward to hosting such a prestigious tournament. We are positive that poker players will enjoy the new destination.”Qualify online at PokerStars.
