Dutch Delight For Daniel Carter

The Master Classics Of Poker land-based tournament series has been taking place at Amsterdam’s Holland Casino over the past week with some British successes.

Daniel Carter topped a field of 95 runners on Tuesday to take down the €770 ($823) buy-in no-limit hold‘em eight-max event for €18,384 ($19,658), which is comfortably his largest live tournament score of the year.

The Cheltenham-based player saw off a final table that included local Dominic Van Embden, who had earlier won the series’ €1,590 ($1,700) buy-in no-limit hold‘em re-entry event for €126,891 ($135,695), and Scottish competitor Richard Milne. Amsterdam has been a happy hunting ground for Glasgow-based Milne as he also managed to boost his career earnings by €24,402 ($26,104) courtesy of a sixth place finish in the same event won by Van Embden.

The Master Classics Of Poker is due to finish tomorrow evening although there is still the chance of a British double as Donald Rae is leading its €4,250 ($4,548) buy-in main event. More of a high-stakes cash player than a tournament regular, the Englishman is now guaranteed to bank at least €23,047 ($24,665) but will be hoping to take down the game and its €300,000 ($321,065) cash prize.
