While the attention of the poker world has been focussed on Las Vegas and the business end of the WSOP Main Event, there was also decent tournament action on offer in Europe.

The pick of the das Euro bunch was the €500 CAPT Velden Showdown that attracted 471 runners who built an impressive €211,950 prize pool.

After a busy weekend of action in the Austrian resort, it was David Urban who took the title and with it a €50,000 score. The Slovakian-based player has enjoyed a string of decent results on the European circuit this season including a third place finish in the GCOP Main Event in the Czech Republic in February that saw him pocket almost €45k. He secured his best ever live score at Velden after beating Lukas Fritz heads up.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 David Urban SVK €50,000
2 Lukas Fritz AUT €30,620
3 Christian Koslowski GER €20,140
4 Gerald Schneiber AUT €13,990

6 Georg Gsell AUT €8,050
7 Christopher Frank GER €6,970
