David “ODB” Baker Tops Global Poker Index

Friday, 20 July 2012

Poker fans are forever wanting to know who the best player is, and while it’s a bit of a daft question (we all know it’s Phil Ivey anyway), the Global Poker Index does its best to classify the best tournament players in the world. The honour of topping the leaderboard now belongs with David Baker, who had a strong 2012 WSOP.

Baker won his first bracelet in the $2,500 8-Game Mixed Event at the World Series, as well as going deep in the Main Event. His success vaults him 13 places up the rankings, deposing Jonathan Duhamel, who slips to third.

German whizkid Marvin Rettenmaier moves into 2nd after winning the WPT Championship, while Erik Cajelais is another big mover, sitting in 10th (up 15 places.

Here’s the top 10 in full. Where is Phil Hellmuth though?
