David L'Honore Takes GPS Westcliff

Monday, 23 March 2015

The biggest tournament action in the UK over the weekend was in Westcliff-on-Sea where David L'Honore won the latest leg of the Genting Poker Series.

A total of 340 players bought in over the three opening days with 24 of them still in with shout of pocketing the £35,000 first prize at the start of the final day.

Sunday's finale proved to be an epic, with the winner not decided until well into the early hours of Monday morning.

That man was David L'Honore who pipped Geoff Dartford to the title and the trophy. Dartford would be the weekend's biggest winner though.

With the clock already ticking past 3.30am the final quartet of L'Honore, Dartford, Yiannis Liperis and Marius Lietuvninkas agreed a four-way chop leaving £2,700 on top for first and £1,000 for second.

Lietuvninkas was the first of the quartet to go, his Q4 no match for Dartford's AQ. Liperis followed soon after, his K4 unable to come from behind against L'Honore's A8.

L'Honore started heads-up play with a two-to-one chip deficit but gained momentum with an early double. With the clock reading 5.16am, L'Honore finally delivered the killer blow, his pocket eights holding against Dartford's 4-5.
