The two opening flights of the £1m guaranteed WPT Nottingham Main Event are in the book with a host of big names still in the hunt for a bumper payday.
Fred Wise (215,100) was the pick of the Day 1B starters and was the only player from either flight to top the 200,000 mark. As expected there's plenty of top talent still on show with former Unibet Open winner Pratik Ghatge (173,400) and this month's Bluff Europe cover star, Chris Moorman (165,200) closing the day in second and third respectively.Moorman isn't the only former WPT winner gunning for another title. Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott (56,000) and Julian Thomas (52,500) both survived a highly competitive second opening flight. Fortune didn't favour former tour winners Jake Cody, Roberto Romanello, Dominik Nitsche and Chino Rheem who all hit the rail.Other notables who prospered on day 1B included EPT Barcelona champ Tom Middleton (102,500), Full Tilt Ambassador Sin Melin (99,400), Yucel 'Mad Turk' Eminoglu (90,800), Chris Brammer (88,000), Jack Ellwood (70,100), Stephen Chidwick (65,400), David Vamplew (62,600) and Zimnan Ziyard (51,500).All told, 170 of the 333 entrants will be back for the day 2 action which resumes at 1pm today. That field could yet get bigger as any player who hasn't re-entered four times will have the opportunity to fire one final bullet before Thursday's action gets under way.Image courtesy of the World Poker Tour.
