256 out of the 708 players who started the opening day are still in the hunt after an action packed first day at the Irish Open in Dublin. The man to catch is Keith 'The Camel' Hawkins who ended the day with a stack of 111,600 chips.

Joining Hawkins at the top of the leader board are Anthony Kennedy in second with 88,300 and Ronan Gallagher in 3rd on 78,850. Former EastEnder Michael Greco is also very handily placed in tenth with a stack of over 65,000.


There will be no repeat of last year's result with defending champion Christer Johansen already hitting the rail. Joining him on the sidelines are Vicky Coren, Brian Townsend, John O'Shea, Tony Cascarino, Dan Harrington, Danio Minieri, Noel Furlong and Marty Smyth.


The action continues over the Easter weekend with the winner set to claim a first prize of around €600,000.
