Bryn Kenney Wins WPT High Roller

Thursday, 20 November 2014

Bryn Kenney is celebrating another six-figure score after taking down the WPT Nottingham High Roller.

The field may have been a bit more cosy than the massive WPT500 event but as you'd expect in a £6,000 buy-in tournament, it was full of top class talent.

Amongst the 40 odd runners who bought in 50 times were the likes of Simon Deadman, Victor Ilyukhin, Marvin Rettenmaier, Dominick Nitsche, Sam Trickett, Toby Lewis and Mr WPT himself, Mike Sexton. They all fell before the money bubble was burst.

Kenney eventually battled his way through a final table that included Stephen Chidwick, Dhruvin Patel and Pablo Fernandez and once Sky Poker pundit Stuart Rutter departed in third, just Patrick Leonard was standing in the way of the New Yorker and £100,000.

Astute fellow that he is, Kenney took the time to gen up on his heads up opponent by reading an interview with Leonard in this month's Bluff Europe!

That seemed to do the trick as Kenney sealed victory after a marathon final day that didn't come to a close until gone 5am.
