The main man behind the former Bitcoin-powered online poker room at Seals With Clubs has been fined $25,000 after admitting to operating the domain without the appropriate licences.

Bryan Micon agreed a plea deal in July and was also sentenced to two years on probation following a final hearing in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Tuesday. Without the agreement, he could have faced up to ten years in jail alongside a maximum fine of $50,000.

Seals With Clubs closed its online doors in February after Micon’s home was raided by the Nevada Gaming Commission with the 37-year-old subsequently relocating to the Caribbean island of Antigua with his family.

Micon later returned to the US and re-launched his online endeavour as SwC Poker before reaching the agreement with Nevada prosecutors.

Authorities charged that Micon had operated Seals With Clubs for almost a year prior to the raid. As part of the agreement, Micon also gave up Bitcoin credits, computer equipment and $900 in cash.
