The British Poker Awards is set for the red carpet treatment as the top names in poker sign up for the prestigious awards ceremony.
The awards, already being dubbed the “Oscars of Poker”, will honour the game’s top achievers in a number of categories, including Best Overall Poker Player, Best Cash Player, Best Tournament Player, Best Online Player and Best UK Card Room.
Among the star names confirmed to attend so far include James Akenhead, Vicky Coren, Marty Wilson, Neil Channing, Tony Kendall, Tony Holden, Ben Roberts and Bambos Xanthos.
Winners will be largely chosen by the voting public, while some awards give the opportunity to players to vote for their peers, and a Best Player award judged by the editors of Bluff Europe Magazine, Poker Europa and Poker News.
London Poker Festival organisers said, “An awards ceremony of this type is long overdue, and we’re delighted to be staging what will be a prestigious annual event to pay homage to the outstanding achievers in our game.”
Public voting is now open, and tickets to this star-studded event are now on general sale. For more information, please visit www.thebritishpokerfestival.com.
