Poker players from across Europe are preparing themselves for a bumper month of ‘everything poker’ in September as the London Poker Festival shuffles up to deal a monster hand of tournaments, celebrity events, awards ceremonies, charity tournaments, poker parties and much more.
A whole month’s worth of cash and tournament poker games have been set-up across 12 of the Capital’s best known venues, including Casino at the Empire, Leicester Square; the Vic Casino; The International; The Barracuda; The Mint Casino; The Regency Club; The Fox Poker Club; Maxims Casino; Palm Beach Casino; The Royal Surrey; The Golden Nugget Casino; and Stringfellow’s Angels.
One of the main events on the calendar is sure to be the first ever Bluff Poker Awards, to be held at the Fox Poker Club on September 13 from 7pm. The inaugural awards ceremony will honour the leading lights from the professional game through eleven categories.
Spearheading the London Poker Festival will be the hugely successful Poker in the Park 2010 in Leicester Square on September 2 and 3, now in its fourth year and expecting to beat last year’s turnout of over 20,000 visitors over the two-day festival. This year’s event, together with headline sponsor, Bodog, is set to be bigger and better than ever, with two poker domes, the poker lecture theatre, heads up tent, poker tuition area and much more besides.
One of the heavyweight attractions will be five-time world boxing champion Evander Holyfield, who will be appearing on behalf of Real Deal Poker. The current WBF World Heavyweight Champion will also be taking part in a Poker Boxing event at Sound nightclub on September 3 as well as going heads up against Real Deal competition winners at the site’s Poker in the Park tent.
Towards the end of the month, Bluff Europe will be back to host a reception party at its recently opened Bluff @ the Mint poker room, Mint Casino, on September 23 and the Bluff Europe Poker Party at Boujis, South Kensington on September 26.
Poker tournaments and cash games will be available every day of September’s festival across the Capital’s 12 dedicated venues. From pub league tournaments and low stakes re-buy events to deepstack freezeout and celebrity charity strip poker nights, there is something for poker players of all levels.
Bluff Europe’s poker academy will also be in residence at the Mint Casino throughout the month, with Alex Rousso and Nik Persaud on hand to advise on various aspects of the game, after which attendees can test their newfound knowledge in a £5 tournament.
