Antoine Amourette leads WPT Grand Prix de Paris

Tuesday, 11 May 2010

The second day of the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris saw 127 players return from the total of 247 that entered the tournament to create the monstrous €2.3m prize pool. When all was said and done, French player Antoine Amourette lead the chip counts with a 489,400 stack.

French Pro Arnaud Mattern is one to watch going into Day 3 after he bagged up a stack of 360,1000 and Danish WSOPE champion Theo Jorgenson managed to accumulate 284,700.

Mattern got his stack by getting all the money in on a 9s-8x-4s board against JJ and KK with T8s for a pair and a flush draw. He spiked a second eight on the turn to swing the odds in his favour before a blank river sent him a gigantic pot.

Andrew Feldman, Freddy Deeb, Sorel Mizzi and Praz Bansi were just a few who didn’t make it to Day 3 but Tyron Krost and Alexander Kravchenko will return to the felt today.

Andrew Teng, currently sitting fourth in chips leads the British challenge.

The leading stacks heading into three are as follows:

Antoine Amourette 489,400
Iulian Iacob 474,700
Jimmy Ostensson 396,100
Andrew Teng 393,500
Arnaud Mattern 360,100
Fabrice Thuil 280,800
Theo Jorgensen 274,700
Per Linde 252,400
Nourredine Aitaleb 232,400
Gabriel Nassif 229,200
