Anthony Zinno's WPT Double

Anthony Zinno's WPT Double

Tuesday, 17 February 2015

Anthony Zinno has become the 21st player to join the WPT's double winners' club after taking down the World Poker Tour Fallsview Classic.

The man from Boston topped a field of 419 runners in Niagara Falls to pocket a first prize of $252,340. Zinno started the final table with around one third of the chips in play, and hardly put a foot wrong en route to securing his second tour title.

After Erik Cajelais, Jeremy Halaska, David Clouitier and Corey Hochman hit the rail it was left to Mark Bailey to try and prevent Zinno's double.

And what a heads-up battle it turned into. Bailey leveled up what had been a three to one deficit at the start of two-handed play but couldn't quite deliver the knockout blow.

Seventy-five hands in, Zinno finally bagged the win. The chips hit the middle on a 8h4c2c board with Zinno in front with KcKh. He'd have a sweat though as Bailey's AcJc was vey much alive. The 4d7s on the turn and river improved neither player to give Zinno a historic win.

Zinno's latest WPT win follows his season XII victory at the Borgata Open for $878,812. The Fallsview triumph takes his career earnings to over $1.82m.
