All four EPT Berlin robbery suspects arrested

All four EPT Berlin robbery suspects arrested

Monday, 22 March 2010

Last week we brought you news that two of the four suspects in the high profile heist at the EPT event in Berlin earlier this month were in custody. The final two suspects have now been arrested too.

Police picked up the two remaining suspects at Berlin's main Tegel Airport on Saturday. Both men informed the authorities via their lawyers that they would be returning from Beirut and Istanbul on Saturday and police were waiting. The German authorities had earlier issued an international arrest warrant for the pair after suspecting that they had gone overseas.

Austrian police have also revealed that security has been boosted for this week's EPT Snow Fest at the Hotel Alpine Palace Card Casino at Saalbach-Hinterglemm. Head of the local police Arno Kosmata said, “The situation at the Alpine Palace Hotel is not comparable to what the situation at the Berlin hotel was. There will not be a large sum of money on hand. The hotel will be well protected.”
