Afriat Dominates WPT World Championship

Friday, 25 April 2014

With over two million chips, Eric Afriat is again top of the pile following the conclusion last night of Day 3 of the WPT World Championship event from the World Poker Tour (WPT).

Having secured a lead of 436,000 chips at the close of Day 2 on Wednesday, the Canadian pro entered yesterday's session on a high.

However, he gradually began losing pace and chips to the likes of Anthony Gregg, Abe Korotki and Justin Young before rallying to recapture the form that saw him win the Hard Rock Seminole Poker Showdown earlier this month.

Indeed, by the time Day 3 was brought to a conclusion, Afriat had scooped 2,029,000 chips to finish well ahead of Korotki with just over 1.6 million.

Overall, 18 players including the likes of Tony Dunst, Keven Stammen and Ryan D'Angelo made it through to Day 4, which will resume from noon New York time today, where the survivors will be whittled down to six ahead of Saturday's finale.

WPT World Championship Day 3 Chip Leaders:

1. Eric Afriat - 2,029,000

2. Abe Korotki - 1,616,000

3. Anthony Gregg - 1,499,000

4. Ryan D'Angelo - 1,369,000

5. Curt Kohlberg - 1,097,000

6. Justin Young - 993,000
