The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has once again fulfilled its promise of creating a millionaire for a reasonable buy-in and this year that lucky grinder is Adrian Buckley.
A 27-year-old electrical engineer and part-time grinder from the US, Buckley managed to bob and wave his way past 7,274 players in the $1,500 WSOP Millionaire Maker to bank a career-high top prize worth $1,277,193.Since dreaming up the Millionaire Maker, the WSOP has not only received a huge amount of praise from the community but an impressive amount of support and this year was no exception. From amateurs and pros to celebrity grinders, the Millionaire Maker brought out the masses; however, when the cards had fallen, it was Buckley who stood victorious.Entering the final table with a mammoth task ahead of him, Buckley managed to push his way past the likes of Mike Sexton, Erick Lindgren and Olivier Busquet before finding himself heads-up with Javier Zarco.Holding a 2:1 chip lead, Buckley was able to make short work of Zarco and eventually clinched the title and his first WSOP bracelet after his pocket tens held on their pre-flop lead against Zarco's sixes. After the confetti had settled and the cheers had finished echoing around the Rio, a stunned Buckley told reporters that the whole event was "surreal" and that it had been a "crazy" few days and the "run of the century."$1,500 WSOP Millionaire Maker Result1.
