Mark Seif, one of the leading faces of much maligned website Absolute Poker, came out with a frank and potentially controversial interview recently about the super-user account scandal which has hit the site.
Absolute’s lead professional has broken the silence which has seemingly taken hold of Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth, both pros on sister-company Ultimate Bet. Seif, a former lawyer, has been open about his views on the scandal, blogging and videotaping an interview on RawVegas.tv last week.
In what might stoke even more controversy, Seif felt that Absolute Poker was ‘erring on the side of overcompensating’ players who may have been victims of the scandal. He also claimed that he’d submitted his own hand histories, with nothing amiss being found. Seif was also clear to clarify that these views were his own, and he was not acting as a spokesman for the company.
To add to the problems at Absolute Poker, an article in the business section of the New York Times named a company which alleged was owed $43,000 by Absolute. To exert pressure on Absolute, the company issued a press release which was subsequently picked up by other segments of the mainstream media in the US and abroad.
