Aaron Massey has won the WinStar River Poker Series Main Event. The American outlasted a massive 1,396 runner-field to walk away with a cool $651,559.
The final day started with just 15 players and by the end of a rapid-fire first level that number had been whittled down to a final table of nine. The fast pace continued with Massey steadily chipping up throughout the day. The action slowed down somewhat when play went three-handed, before Massey doubled through Newcombe - his set getting all-in on the turn and holding against Newcombe's nut flush draw and gut shot. That huge pot gave Massey the chip lead and Newcombe was eliminated in third couple of hands later at the hands of Andy Robinson with A5 losing to A9.20 minutes later after some heads up back and forth, Robinson got his last 40bbs in pre-flop with his A9 trailing Massey's A10. The board didn't help him, but he still walks away with a sizeable $334,030. For Aaron Massey, he leaves the WinStar World Casino in Oklahoma $651,559 richer and takes down the biggest title of his life. The final table positions and payouts were as follows:1 Aaron Massey $659,5592 Andy Robinson $334,0303 Matt Newcombe $195,1604 Jay Merchant $139,4005 Peter Zhmutski $111,5206 Patricia Cardner $97,5807 Cord Garcia $83,6408 Chris Hooper $69,7009 Matt Shepsky $62,730Keep up to date with all the news from the poker world by following us on Twitter and Facebook.
