Women at the World Series of Poker

Katja Thater has won the $1,500 Razz event at the World Series of
Poker (event 29) taking home $132,653. She is the first woman to
win a WSOP bracelet since 2004, when Cindy Violette, Kathy Liebert
and Anny Duke all finished ‘in the jewellery’.
Professor Rules Bournemouth
Pete ‘the professor’ Singleton has won the Great British Poker Tour
event in Bournemouth, after battling it out over three days. The
£500 + £50 tournament had a field of 139 other players who were a
mixture of professionals and amateurs.

UK Poker Clubs Association Takes Government to Court
The UK’s department of Culture Media and Sport is being challenged
by the UK Poker Clubs Association (UKPCA), which is calling the
Department’s treatment of poker clubs ‘totally irrational’.
Poker Tournament Put on Ice in Reykjavik
The first Icelandic poker tournament ended in disaster when police
closed it down on Saturday. Organiser Sindri Lúdvíksson is
protesting that he did not realise the event was outside the law.
