The dust may have only just settled on Martin Jacobson's WSOP Main Event victory, but the community's attention is already turning to the 2015 festival.
Taking place inside the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Vegas between May 27 and July 14, the 2015 WSOP is expected to be one of the biggest poker events in history.Announced on Monday, the WSOP 2015 preliminary schedule will welcome back some recent favourites, including the Millionaire Maker and the Monster Stack. In 2014 the $1,500 Millionaire Maker broke attracted 7,977 hopefuls and broke its guaranteed prizepool, but in 2015 the organisers are hopeful the tournament will break the 8,000 player mark.Continuing its benevolence in 2015, the WSOP will also be hosting two One Drop events costing $111,111 and $1,111. Getting underway on June 28 and June 30 respectively, the two charitable events will donate a slice of their entries fees to Guy Laliberte's One Drop Foundation.Another returning element of the WSOP next season will be the $10 million guarantee for the Main Event. Although some players were against this when it was first announced, the headline purse seemingly helped push up the number of runners in the event and, therefore, will make a return in 2015.As well as offering all the fan favourites in 2015, the WSOP also announced the addition of a new event next summer. The "Colossus" will get things underway on May 29 and May 30 and feature a $5 million guaranteed prizepool with one interesting twist: the buy-in is only $565. On each of the two starting days there will be two flights and for a paltry $565 players will be given a 5,000 chip starting stack and the ability to re-enter if they so wish."Load up the entire gang - the home game, the spouse, whomever you know that enjoys the game,” said Stewart. “The Colossus is going to feature a historic prize pool at this buy-in level and it can only happen at the World Series of Poker."The 2015 World Series of Poker looks set to be one of the festival's biggest events to date. In 2014 there was a sense that the industry was back on the up and people were getting back into the action and if that can carry through into the New Year then expect the Rio to be rocking between May 27 and July 14.
