Organiser's of this year's World Series of Poker have announced the full schedule for this year's event with a total of 61 bracelets up for grabs between 27 May and 12 July 2012.
"This year’s WSOP schedule is very exciting,” said WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel, who will oversee the event for the seventh consecutive year. “We’re introducing some fantastic new events, while bringing back many successful stalwarts that our players love. We will expand our footprint this year to include extra tables dedicated to cash games, as well as plenty of satellite and single-day tournament space, so players will have an easy time finding a desirable game without ever having to leave the Rio Convention Center.” The biggest news concerns the $10,000 Main Event. Because of the US Presidential Election, the November Nine will become the October Nine with the final table resuming on Sunday 28th October and the World Champion crowned on Tuesday 30th October. The starting days for the Main Event have also been reduced from four to three, staring on 7 July. Five levels will be played on each day with the scheduled rest day scrapped. The overall structure itself remains the same however, it's just the scheduling that has been tinkered with.Other changes for 2012 include a huge $1m buy-in event, a re-entry tournament, a $2,500 four-handed NLHE contest and a $1,500 ante only tournament. Recreational players will be amply catered for with smaller buy-in events scheduled for weekends ($1,500 on Saturdays, $1,000 on Sundays). The popular $50,000 Players' Championship also returns. The complete schedule can be found here.Keep up to date with all the news from the poker world by following us on Twitter and Facebook.
