Having racked up more than $1m in poker earnings as a teenager, Jimmy Fricke decided it wouldn’t be too inappropriate to approach Full Tilt Poker about the possibility of sponsorship, or better still joining the Full Tilt Team.

Having racked up more than $1m in poker earnings as a teenager, Jimmy Fricke decided it wouldn’t be too inappropriate to approach Full Tilt Poker about the possibility of sponsorship, or better still joining the Full Tilt Team. Taking it upon himself, Fricke fired the following email off to the Full Tilt powers-that-be:
Hi, I’m Jimmy Fricke, and I took 2nd in the Aussie Millions tournament last year and received a large amount of television coverage. I’m coming back for all the tournaments this year, and was curious if Full Tilt would be interested in sponsoring me in some of the events or maybe the main event in exchange for wearing full tilt gear and maybe some other things. I’m unaffiliated with all sites right now and I have a bunch of friends coming to the tournament who are strong online tournament players who also have no affiliation. Let me know if you’re interested in doing business.
Take care,
Jimmy.
The reply was a simple ‘thanks but no thanks’ from Full Tilt’s representative, who went on to mention that the Full Tilt Team was comprised by invite only, and that there was no fixed criteria for consideration. Sadly the representative had inadvertently left in some ‘advice’ they’d sought from one of the Full Tilt pros, Howard Lederer. Lower in the email, Lederer had replied:
The guy’s a freak and a very weird dude. He is also quite young. I think we should stay away.
Whoops! Howard has since sent a private apology to Jimmy, which according to Fricke’s posts on the 2+2 forums, brings the matter to a close.
