What's on in the capital.
ASPERS
New Tour and the Return of the 30-30
As I write this, we are right in the middle of 12 days of poker at Aspers Stratford. The WCOPA, which started with a bang, is now in Day Two. Event #1 attracted 165 entries, exceeding the 120 player cap. Event #2, 7 Card Stud, attracted a respectful 32 entries, and it looks like all other events will sell out.
Anyway, enough about what’s going on – this is all about what’s coming up!
Microgaming Poker Tour (MGPT)
Aspers will host the inaugural Microgaming Poker Tour, a brilliant event that will run from 29th May to 1st June. With a very affordable €550 buy-in, a great tournament structure, and an array of side events including an Open Face Chinese tournament, we anticipate a fantastic weekend of poker for all. Microgaming are running €1,500 package satellites network wide, and Aspers will also be running ticket-only satellites in the casino for all this month.
Aspers/Coral 30-30This May, we welcome back after a one month break the ever-popular Aspers 30-30. This two-day, £30,000 guaranteed event starts on Saturday 17th and concludes on Sunday 18th. In March, this event attracted 147 entries, generating a prize pool of £39,690. Again, you can win your seat at Coral.co.uk, or in one of the weekly live satellites at Aspers.
As always, active cash games are running 24/7. In addition to this, our new tournament schedule has now gone live, with the introduction of the new “Tuesday Triple Shoot-Out”, as well as the “Turbo at Ten” satellites. For more information, please check out

THE CASINO AT THE EMPIRE£25,000 Guaranteed May Festival – now double the play, double the value
Last month, the Empire Casino announced a £25,000 Guaranteed deep stack Festival across the late May bank holiday weekend. This will be a £200+£15 Main Event made up of Day Ones being held on 23rd and 24th May, with Day Two returning Sunday 25th to play down to a final table contested on Monday 26th. To give more in the way of play, the card room have since confirmed that it will double its advertised starting chips and clock. As a result, it’s now updated as a 30,000 starting stack, and 60 minute clock. For full details, please contact the card room directly.
With over £1,000,000 paid out to players since 2010, here’s how you could win the next beat jackpot…
The jackpot is won if your losing hand is four Twos or better at showdown in any dealer dealt Texas Hold’em cash game. Both the bad beat winner and the winner of the hand must use both their hole cards. The bad beat winner (loser of the hand) wins 50% of the jackpot, the winner of the hand wins 25% of the jackpot, and the remaining 25% is shared amongst the rest of the players on the table.
The biggest three jackpots won to date stood at £222,335, £128,705 and £118,421. The current Bad Beat Jackpot at time of writing stands at over £36,000, and just keeps on getting bigger – could you be the next winner?
